LEILA’s goal is to overcome identified weaknesses and to remove the existing barriers, by fostering and enforcing the cross-border cooperation of Member States in the sector.
This will be obtained by achieving the following specific objectives:
To provide a unique and kept up-to-date multilingual engine for searching goods to be sold in judicial auctions taking place in the EU, creating a single European marketplace for all judicial sales in Europe, by following the one-stop-shop approach, unifying the presentation and delivery of data in a centralized way, and contributing to ease the European citizens’ and companies’ access to information regarding these goods by making it directly understandable by users of diverse mother tongue
To provide citizens and companies with certified information on goods and judicial auctions (coming from official national providers), without interference of third parties via private and unofficial portals, which could lead to possible manipulation of the information itself
To develop a unified user-friendly provision of complex search functionality and comparison among goods, overcoming Member States’ boundaries and semantic diversities
To implement an automatic retrieval of information from the national systems, using the e-CODEX infrastructure: only real time and updated information of auctions in the Member States will be presented to users
To provide publication facilities for Member States which are currently lacking (a) national provider(s)
To ensure the future self-sustainability of the project outcomes through synergies with the European e-Justice Portal, and the Member States not participating the project
To enable future developments correlating information with other sources and sites to enhance the usefulness of the results, increasing the overall effectiveness for end users
To lay the ground towards judicial auctions interconnection across EU
To create the basis for a pan-European platform for on-line judicial auctions, potentially open to other kinds of auctions.
